Series of Justice Reform Conversations Starts in Travis County
Sept. 28, 2020
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) hosts Finding the Way Forward, a series of six conversations that will examine justice reform with local leaders in access to justice.
The kickoff event is Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. via Zoom Webinar with Travis County Attorney-elect Delia Garza, José P. Garza, a former TRLA attorney in Del Rio, and Adeola Ogunkeyede, Travis County’s first Chief Public Defender.
Patrice James will moderate. She is the Director of Community Justice at the Shriver Center on Poverty Law.
Panelists will examine how the current environment has created a singular opportunity for diagnosing challenges in our justice system, its impact on indigent clients, and the possibility of change at the state and local levels.
Local leaders in other parts of the 68-county TRLA service area will hold conversations as follows:
Oct. 14: Bexar County
Oct. 28: Coastal counties
Nov. 18: El Paso County
Dec. 9: Rio Grande Valley
TBD: Webb County
Tickets for each conversation are $25 or $250 for the entire series. Ticket sales support TRLA’s ability to address the significant increase in the need for legal services across Southwest Texas.
Complimentary access is available to the press. Contact Hannah Allison at hallison@trla.org for a virtual press pass.
