New Pro Bono Counsel for Annunciation House Appeal Case
EL PASO, TEXAS —As of August 2, 2024, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) will no longer serve as lead counsel for Annunciation House. This announcement comes after the OAG filed an appeal on July 15th against Judge Dominguez’s earlier ruling in favor of Annunciation House.
As Annunciation House enters the appeal process against the OAG in front of the Texas Supreme Court, appellate counsel Alexander Dubose & Jefferson’s partner, Amy Warr, will now lead the case pro bono.
With decades of legal experience, particularly in appellate matters, Ms. Warr is not new to TRLA, and we’re confident in her ability to lead the case in this appellate arena. Ms. Warr is best known for her pro bono work in the 2008 Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints case, which reunited over 30 mothers and their children and was the largest child-protection case in United States history.
“I’m honored to lead this appeal on an issue vital to the rule of law in Texas and the interests of nonprofits and businesses operating in the state,” says Ms. Warr.
