When you make your tax-deductible donation to Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA), you help fund the gaps that institutional sources can not fill in a timely manner and ensure flexibility to address issues and expenses without red tape.

As TRLA moves forward in our new normal, we are quite aware that the economic impact of COVID-19 has hit all our doorsteps. Amplifying the strained feeling on your body, your mind, and your heart. This journey hits all of us in many ways and at various degrees.

Hardships and loss will continue to impact our vulnerable client communities the hardest. We don’t know what the future holds, but what we do know is that the number of clients that TRLA supports will continue to grow.

Your donation secures justice for hard-working minimum-wage earners, survivors of domestic violence, children with disabilities, abused seniors, homeless Texans, veterans not receiving their benefits, and victims in crisis - who would otherwise never be able to afford legal assistance.

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) is a charitable organization as described in §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN#: 74-1675230, registered in the state of Texas. Following the Internal Revenue Service guidelines, TRLA maintains discretion and sole control over the use of all donated funds.

Therefore, donors explicitly release TRLA from any restrictions on how those funds are spent. Contributions are tax-deductible to the limit allowed by law if the donor itemizes. Donors who donate more than $25.00 in any given year will be mailed a statement for all their donations by February of the following year. TRLA may not expend any funds for any activity prohibited by the Legal Services Corporation Act, 42 U.S.C. §2996 et seq. or by Public Law 104-134. Public Law 104-234 §504(d) requires that notice of these restrictions be given to all funding sources of programs funded by the Legal Service Corporation.

We do not sell, rent, or lease donor or partner information to third parties for any purpose. We may share donor or partner information with third-party service providers who help us to process donations, send communications, and manage our events. These service providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and to use it only for the purposes for which it was shared. Additionally, limited staff have access to the data we store on the third-party platforms. We may also disclose donor or partner information as required by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, or the rights or property of others. 

YOUR CHOICES

You have the right to opt out of receiving communications from us at any time. You can also request to access or update your personal information. To do so, please contact us at donations@trla.org. 

DATA SECURITY

We take reasonable steps to protect donor and partner information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We use a variety of security measures, including physical security measures, technical security measures, and administrative security measures. CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to this privacy policy, we will post the revised policy on our website and notify you by email or mail.
