State Rep. Oscar Longoria and First Assistant District Attorney Edward Adrian Sandoval of Cameron County are among the local leaders discussing justice reform tonight in the Rio Grande Valley.

The Rio Grande Valley conversation is on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom Webinar. Attendees can purchase tickets in advance at www.trla.org/finding-the-way-forward

Tonight’s discussion is the last of six conversations in Texas RioGrande Legal Aid’s Finding the Way Forward series on justice reform in local communities.

Longoria is a Mission native whose legislative district includes Cameron and Hidalgo counties. In addition to Longoria and Sandoval, the Rio Grande Valley conversation features Brownsville attorney Sara Stapleton-Barrera and Gordon A. Crews, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Jamiles Lartey will moderate. He is a staff writer for the Marshall Project, a nonprofit journalism venture focused on criminal justice.

The Rio Grande Valley event will feature highlights from the previous conversations in Travis County (Sept. 30), Bexar County (Oct. 14), Victoria, Nueces, and other coastal counties (Oct. 28), El Paso County (Nov. 18), and Webb County (Dec. 3).

Tickets are $25 each. Sales support TRLA’s ability to address the significant increase in the need for legal services across Southwest Texas.

Complimentary access is available to the press. Contact Hannah Allison at hallison@trla.org for a virtual press pass
