Free Legal Assistance Available to Jackson County Residents Affected by Hurricane Beryl

JACKSON COUNTY, TEXAS – Free legal resources are available to low-income individuals affected by Hurricane Beryl in 17 Texas counties included in the federal disaster declaration of July 13. They include Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Wharton.

Regarding individual assistance through FEMA, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) is assisting those in Jackson County impacted by Hurricane Beryl. TRLA can help those affected with FEMA appeals, landlord/tenant issues, disaster unemployment, replacing lost documents, and issues with public benefits.

If you’re outside of Jackson County, and your county is mentioned in the federal disaster declaration, you can find your local aid provider through The State Bar of Texas’ toll-free legal hotline (800-504-7030) that connects low-income individuals to their appropriate legal aid provider based on their service area.

Currently, no FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) are set in Jackson County. However, residents are encouraged to monitor the FEMA DRC Locator website for the most up-to-date information regarding accessible facilities and mobile offices.
